This site's tolerance and acquiescence to incest is so fucking insane like "I don't support it but my mutual is cool so I'll allow it" "richard siken's artistic contributions to society absolve him" "ethel cain can ship whatever, she's earned it" like I'm not going to lie to you it's kinda looking like you do support it...

tummyacheworld

this post is perfect because it hits that sweet spot of being able to destroy my notifications with pissed off people forever BUT also being controversial enough that people who agree with this won't reblog it either so it's never breaching containment and I live in peace

tummyacheworld

it is however totally okay to reblog btw

goddamn who tf isnt agreeing with this??

New sleep style: hitting the snooze button so many times that you sleep two additional hours in ten minute intervals. I call this Horse Sleep

caspercryptid

Worse sleep. That was meant to say worse sleep

I Am So Fucking Tired

caspercryptid

Literally immediately after reblogging this to correct it I went "wow, it has a reblog already?" And got all the way to checking my notifs before I realized. That it was me.

Actually your society is the freaks for shooting everything that moves and burning half your "nature reserves" every year so that upperclass dandies can eat leaded pheasant. North Americans are the well adjusted ones here, your country has become a desolate suburban lawn in island form

reservoirmonks

i know bad faith takes on the bad faith website are par for the course but like. you do realise there haven’t been wolves in the UK since the 16th century. There haven’t been bears in the UK since around 500AD. There haven’t been lynx in the UK for around 1,300 years. In other words: since before the USA was even a country. That’s not a gotcha, it’s just like. The UK is roughly the size of Oregon state (and Oregon has 6% of the UK’s population) so of course a newer country with hundreds of times the landmass and vast swathes of wilderness would have greater biodiversity just from the get-go, but the extinction of our major predators is not recent history. It’s really not about upperclass dandies (and frankly the USA has just as much of a questionable culture surrounding hunting & associated firearms as we do...) it’s just. You’re comparing apples and oranges here and trying to make a whole thing of it.

also: rewilding efforts in the UK are very much a thing.

https://raptorpersecutionuk.org/2021/12/29/these-crimes-are-being-covered-up-rspb-scotland-speaks-out-as-bird-crime-soars/

The ecocide is still ongoing in the UK sadly and many people in power have ties to these practices or call it tradition, and it's considerably worse and more nature depleted than continental europe.

Humans inhabited North America for tens of thousands of years and the industrial purge of fauna and logging didn't happen until the very same people we're both I'm assuming descended from arrived here. Since then North America has tried to embrace more conservation efforts (well at least as radical as is allowed within neoliberalism) and we still have brainrot over wolves but at least we don't have members of parliament fearmongering over the presence of eagles and our animal shelters won't deny adoption to people who refuse to let their cats free roam outside.

North American hunting and British hunting are very different industries, we don't farm raise game to be released for shooting or heavily interfere with the ecosystem of hunting grounds anywhere to the extent of moorland management. We have people pissy about wolves potentially eating the deer hunters want to shoot but we don't have gamekeepers systemically eradicating any other species that might possibly compete with game, in general many hunters here have a more nuanced understanding of harvesting responsibly and conservation.

Both our countries suck ass (I am Canadian) but the UK is objectively farther behind if a bobcat sparks debate over whether they are too dangerous and controversial to reintroduce

theribthatgrewback asked:

do you have any facts about goth culture

facts-i-just-made-up answered:

Goths dress dark to hide themselves. Goths who are easier to see from their brighter clothing are called Visigoths.

sublingualspiro

so the real question is ostrogoths

(my girlfriend says 'ratites')

in case any edgy gentiles are thinking of claiming that it’s just the Chronically Online Jews who are concerned abt today’s “day of hate”, that it was all just talk and we’re overreacting, a 95 year old jewish man who came to the brunch i worked today told me that what’s going on now reminds him of what things were like in the 30’s. he is not the first older jew i’ve heard make these parallels. in fact, it’s pretty common to hear from people who have holocaust survivors in their family that those survivors have been noticeably more anxious these past few years. i’ve talked to several jews in their 60s and 70s who have all said something along the lines of “i’ve had to deal with more antisemitism over the last few years than i ever did when i was growing up.”

this is not an online problem. it is a real world problem. get on board with fixing it, or get out of the way.

spacelazarwolf

good time to bring this back.

satoru-geto

hello. jew here

dont write jewish characters if u know next to nothing about us or our culture/religion pls. if u want to write a jewish character (or any character outside the scope of your personal knowledge, honestly), you MUST take the time to read about us and our beliefs, customs, etc. im not saying u have to be an expert on the torah or the tanakh or the talmud, but u need to do at least the bare minimum. and google isnt always reliable, if u have questions u should carefully analyze which websites u use. or have a jew beta your fic/writing!

im just tired of seeing “this character is jewish :) u can tell because they celebrate hanukkah” and that is it for the jewish characterization. like i get that u ppl know nothing abt judaism except for hanukkah but u HAVE to do better than that. because ur essentially tokenizing the character as ur Jewish Representation and it shows.

again, im not saying ‘dont write that hanukkah scene’, or ‘dont try writing jews at all’.

what i AM saying is that u need to actually do ur part in understanding judaism a little bit more before u decide to write a jewish character. if ur not willing to do the research or ask the questions, dont bother writing us into ur stories.

no-goddamn-cilantro

From what I've seen working in a shul and being surrounded by Jews, "Yeah they showed up in a Halloween costume and completely hammered to game night in March??? And yelled at us about some guy named Haman????"* is much more accurate if you're wanting to have a Jewish character celebrating a Jewish holiday. Also, Purim is the best and I will accept no notes on this.

*(based on the true story of how my Rabbi met my husband for the first time)

spacelazarwolf

u will be thrilled to know that my synagogue had a drag performer for purim last year who read the story of purim in the campiest possible way. my rabbi also dressed as hedwig from hedwig and the angry inch. purim is objectively the jewish holiday that fucks hardest.

does anyone know if i can like block sites from appearing in my google images searches??? i keep getting those awful ai generated things with a hand coming out of a man's neck and just straight up not what i was looking for, because this was in a search for "curly hair in medieval paintings". it happens every time i search for anything vaguely art-reference-like and it's so fucking annoying and it clutters my search results so much. i don't wanna add specific commands to the query every time too, what i need is like a browser extension or something

trupowieszcz

okay i found one! it works! everyone come get your blacklist 👍👍👍

cutabello

I made a list of as many ai sites i could find to block with ublacklist, just copy and paste them in ublacklist's options menu

So uh….some dude apparently recreated Adobe Photoshop feature-for-feature, for FREE, and it runs in your browser.

Anyway, fuck Adobe, and enjoy!

WHAT?!

triona-tribblescore

I study graphic design and my tutor recommended and used this in his classes at art college last year, it’s so good it has SO many features for free, I really recommend it, even if you’re just trying to learn the basics of PS, such a wonderful thing <3

speedofsoundsketches

Photoshop is still considered an industry standard for commercial art so if you’d like to learn how to use it without breaking the bank, here’s a great tool for any artist hopefuls!

in this terrifying world you continuously have the power to offer someone else a little relief . why would you withhold that. do you remember what a little relief feels like? it feels like a lot

testing-stormneko

excuse me? are you suggesting i frolic directly into someone's emotional space and assume what brings them relief, potentially causing more stress? are you encouraging people to reach past their own boundaries to help, increasing net suffering if it costs more than the other gains? surely not; that would be advocating for emotional self-harm.

jb-blunk

this is a post about the woman who waived my late fee at the bank .

testing-stormneko

good for you, good for her, the wording on the initial post feels closer to blaming people who don't reach out than celebrating those who do by a large enough margin that i feel the need to hit back

According to the Irish Times, in the new Lord of Rings series on Amazon, the Hobbits are Irish charicatures and the Dwarfs are Scottish charicatures.

It also notes that the Men have Lancashire accents while the Elves are Upper Class British, commenting that "Somehow the Victorian caste system has been smuggled into a 21st-century American fantasy series."
